Description: Three remarkable vineyards and one unquenchable curiosity. At Chehalem Winery, we help define how great the wines from Willamette Valley are, not only for Pinot Noir, but equivalently for white wines.

We believe that ideal meals require wines that resonate with each course, and therefore mindfully combine our valley’s climate with an elegant, balanced winemaking style to create complex food wines.

Firmly rooted as pioneers in Oregon winemaking, Chehalem not only reflects the successful milestones of our industry’s half-century of work and creativity, but projects the journey forward, embracing sustainability, new varieties, and higher quality approaches to winemaking.

Origin of name: Chehalem (Chuh-hay-lum) is a local Calpooia Indian word best translated as “gentle land” or “valley of flowers,” phrases that capture a long-standing, almost religious reverence for the land that we honor by crafting wines with minimal processing to reflect what the vineyard has produced without compromising great fruit.

Fun Fact: Harry planted the first vineyard ever in the Ribbon Ridge AVA – Ridgecrest

Favorite food and wine pairing: Mushrooms and Pinot Noir
